What Is A Commercial Grade Tankless Water Heater?
To ensure safety, efficiency, and optimal performance of tankless commercial water heaters, only specify heaters that meet these minimum commercial criteria:
- ASME HLW rated and factory tested as a system
- 316L Stainless steel heat exchanger designed to handle millions of thermal cycles
- Units that have no warranty limitations on thermal cycles, run hours, or recirculation
- Utilizes Masterless staging controls that have no single point failures
- Doesn't need a tank and has less than 5 gallons of stored water
- Doesn't need annual descaling of heat exchangers or combustion side cleaning
- Avoid units labeled commercial that offer less than 200,000 BTU/hr. (These units are not certified by ASME)
199,000 BTU or less “racked” units require groupings to adequately meet the hot water need in a commercial application. It takes several 199,999 units to get to 750,000 BTU or 1.5M BTU and manufacturers use this technique to avoid ASME certifications, and other consumer safety protections required by code, increasing your liability in the event of a disaster.
