SCAD FORTY EIGHT ensures student comfort with a reliable hot water solution.

The new FORTY EIGHT residence hall at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) utilizes two iQ1501 units to provide endless hot water for students opening this Fall.

Application Details:

As the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) prepares to welcome students to its newest residence hall, FORTY EIGHT, infrastructure reliability is at the forefront of the design. To meet the massive domestic hot water (DHW) demands of a modern, high-density student housing facility, the project team opted for Intellihot’s high-efficiency tankless technology over traditional storage-tank systems.

Expertly installed by Gill Plumbing Company, the system features two iQ1501 units that deliver a combined 3 million BTU/hr. This industrial-grade capacity is specifically designed to handle the intense “morning rush” when hundreds of students utilize showers and fixtures simultaneously. With Intellihot’s Masterless Cascading technology, the units work in tandem to balance the load, providing built-in redundancy that ensures the building never faces a “no hot water” scenario.

By selecting an all-tankless design for this new construction, SCAD FORTY EIGHT maximized its mechanical room footprint and eliminated the energy waste associated with heating and storing stagnant water. The result is a sustainable, space-saving solution that reflects the innovation and excellence of the SCAD campus experience.
