The laundromat’s engineering team and Intellihot’s applications division collaborated to design the hot water system.
A Fortune 100 company looking to grow its laundromat business was looking for a water heater that could provide the most efficiency for high-volume demands with the smallest physical footprint. The company partnered with Intellihot to determine the optimal sizing option for this laundromat.
Rather than relying on a general sizing estimate, the company installed a flow meter on its equipment to record the flow rate. This study was conducted over a two-week period with data being collected n two-second intervals to optimize the sizing.
The Intellihot Applications Team reviewed the data and determined the peak flow rate and minimum ground water temperature. To meet these requirements, the Intellihot Applications Team recommended two iN501 units. This configuration ensures that even during the most extreme simultaneous draws, the temperature is maintained.

By selecting an all-tankless design for this new build, the laundromat maximized its floor space for additional machines and eliminated the energy waste inherent in keeping large storage tanks hot 24/7. Intellihot’s Technical Support team helped start up the units with Paramount Plumbing. The units are connected to Intellihot’s telliCare remote monitoring system, where the performance of the units can be evaluated by the customer and Intellihot. This will ensure that the laundromat always has hot water to meet its demand.
